The 2015 German Grand Prix will take place at Hockenheim rather than the Nurburgring according to Bernie Ecclestone.
The two circuits have taken it in turns to rotate the event between them since 2008, with the Nurburgring down to play host to the German GP in 2015.
However financial difficulties at the circuit, which has seen it change ownership, means it is no longer possible for F1 to race there according to Ecclestone.
“It’s going to be at Hockenheim, we’re in the middle of doing something with them,” he told Reuters. “It can’t be Nurburgring because there’s nobody there.”
The 84-year-old doesn’t forsee any problems in amending the contract to allow Hockenheim to take over as host.
“We’ve got a contract in place [with Hockenheim], we just have to amend the years of the contract. It was alternating with Nurburgring so we’ll just take that out,” he added.
