A couple of days ago you may have noticed a different name on each and every page of our website. We’ve dumped The F1 Times (sorry) and we’re now Grand Prix Times. Hurrah!
The change was decided on several months ago, but we chose to delay the switch until the 2014 Formula 1 season was done and dusted. Now that it’s out of most people’s minds, which are now focused on 2015, we thought it was the ideal time to make the change. New season, new name!
With that, we’ve also updated our website. It might look similar on the surface, but it’s been rebuilt from the ground up to be quicker and more user friendly.
Visit us on your mobile and you’ll notice a new interface with some fancy sliders. Our article pages are now responsive, so you’ll see exactly the same content whether you’re on your laptop or your iPhone.
We’ll be bringing more features to both soon, including a redesigned gallery, so keep an eye out for those when they launch.
We’re also hoping to expand our content to other motorsport series. We’ve yet to decide on exactly which – you’ll need to help us with!
Which brings us to the reason behind our name change. A lot of our readers believe the change was down to FOM restrictions on the use of the ‘F1’ trademark, but that didn’t factor into our decision. We’ve used our old name since we were a mere blog in 2008 and FOM has never come knocking – well, they did once, but that’s another story.
‘Grand Prix’ gives us greater flexibility to cover a wider range of motorsport series and we plan to do exactly that, just not immediately. But we’ll be sure to let you know what our future plans are.
Finally, if you have any bookmarks, you might want to update them to ensure you’re getting the latest news as things like our old mobile website and RSS feeds, will no longer be updated.
If you discover any bugs or issues with the website, despite our thorough testing, please drop us an email (or if you have any general comments/improvements/suggestions) – contact@grandprixtimes.com and we’ll be sure to take a look.
For now, enjoy the last few weeks of F1’s winter break, because car launches and testing kicks off in just a matter of days. Oh yeah!
