Formula 1’s 24-race 2023 calendar has been released, featuring the return of China and Qatar, and the addition of Las Vegas.
The season will once more start and end in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi respectively, with the first round of the campaign slightly earlier, on March 5.
China’s return after a three-year absence has been scheduled for April 16, as the fourth round, though remains provisional due to the country’s strict Covid-19 entry measures.
Azerbaijan moves from June to April, forming a double-header with Miami, freeing up its previous slot and avoiding a clash with the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Imola consequently has moved from April to create a triple header with Monaco, which has been retained on a new three-year deal, and Spain.
Belgium moves from post-summer to the final event before the break, in July, at the end of four races in a month that includes Austria, Britain and Hungary.
France, as expected, has been removed from the schedule, just five years after it returned to the championship.
Qatar’s return is scheduled for October 8, as a standalone round, with construction work at the Losail facility precluding its presence earlier in the campaign.
Brazil will move slightly earlier in November to form a triple header with Austin and Mexico.
Las Vegas’ debut event is scheduled for November 18, as the penultimate round, a week in advance of the usual Abu Dhabi finale.
The number of Sprint races, and their respective locations, has yet to be determined.
