Red Bull Racing has recruited gamer-turned-racer Rudy van Buren as its simulator and development driver.
Van Buren was one of the first virtual racers to come to prominence on the motorsport scene by winning McLaren’s World Fastest Gamer competition in 2017.
Van Buren has competed professionally in sportscars and this year has been racing in Porsche Supercup, which supports Formula 1 grands prix.
Van Buren holds 12th place in this year’s standings.
The Dutchman has a long-standing relationship with reigning Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen.
Both compete for Team Redline in the virtual world.
