As was feared, Tatiana Calderon will not be able to take part in IndyCar’s race from the streets of Toronto on account of unresolved sponsorship payment issues.
ROKiT, which is the title sponsor of two cars in the AJ Foyt Racing team, has been late on its payments to the point that the #11 entry will not be able to take part in this weekend’s event.
According to a report by RACER, the team is only confirming that this weekend’s race is affected, and it hopes to continue running three cars once the overdue payments are received.
If the payments do not come soon, then JR Hildebrand could also be affected, as the team’s oval driver for the third entry is set to get behind the wheel for the double-header at Iowa Speedway in less than two weeks.
In the meantime, Kyle Kirkwood and Dalton Kellett will pilot the remaining two AJ Foyt entries while the team searches for other sources of funding to allow the #11 to rejoin the grid.
Kirkwood drives the other entry that has had ROKiT branding up until this point in the season, but his entry has other funding sources that will allow him to complete his season uninterrupted.
It is not known what if any livery changes will be present on the team’s cars while funding is being sorted out.
Calderon’s best finish this season has been a 15th place result around the Indianapolis road course, and she has finished ahead of her more experienced team-mate Kellett three times.
She was originally scheduled to run the remaining five road and street courses of the season as she looked to jumpstart her IndyCar career.
