Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara won the Formula E Marrakesh E-Prix, finishing ahead of polesitter Antonio Felix da Costa, who couldn’t pass the Swiss driver in the final few laps of the race.
Mitch Evans finished third for Jaguar after starting sixth. He passded da Costa’s DS Techeetah teammate Jean-Eric Vergne on the last lap to take the final podium position, but as he finished behind Mortara, the new championship leader, he’s slipped back slightly points-wise, with 15 points between them, with Evans in fourth.
With Vergne finishing fourth in the race, Mortara’s teammate at Venturi, Formula E veteran Lucas di Grassi, finished fifth, overtaking Mercedes-EQ’s Nyck de Vries on the final lap.
Andretti’s Jake Dennis finished seventh in a good showing for the Brit. Championship leader going into the E-Prix, Stoffel Vandoorne, but not coming out of it, finished eighth in an excellent recovery drive for the Mercedes-EQ driver. He has, however, slipped to third in the standings behind Mortara and Vergne, with Evans just one point further adrift.
Ninth and tenth were Jaguar’s sam Bird and Mahindra’s Oliver Rowland, with the Brits scoring two and one points respectively.
The next Formula E round takes place in New York City in two weeks time, with the weekend holding double header races on Saturday and Sunday.
