Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel says he would much prefer to visit the famous Bathurst circuit in Australia, over another city event in Las Vegas – which host America’s third race next season.
Las Vegas was confirmed as joining the F1 calendar in 2023, with the famous Strip – and its many famous casinos – forming part of the layout.
Asked about the deal, Vettel suggested more challenging, traditional tracks were more his style.
“I’d rather go to Bathurst!” He said. “Take the cash we’ll take to Vegas and invest it in great tracks that already exist. That would be a real challenge. I think that track is a monster.”
Although the Aston Martin driver has never driven the track, which is situated on Mount Panorama, giving it many natural climbs and falls, he hopes to one day attack the track.
“I’ve never been,” he said. “But one day I hope to go and experience it.”
Vettel has a strong opinion about Las Vegas, adding: “To be honest, I’ve been to Vegas. I didn’t really like it. I think it’s too busy and people misbehave.
“Nothing against misbehaving, but it’s just when you go too far. Vegas seems to be a hotspot for people who just go too far – when it’s not funny anymore.”
