Juan Manuel Correa is set to return to competitive action in Formula 3 this weekend after missing several events due to a foot injury.
Correa claimed points in both races in Bahrain but a scan in the aftermath revealed that he had sustained a metatarsal injury in his left foot.
Correa missed the second Formula 3 event of the season at Imola and was also forced to skip two rounds of the European Le Mans Series in which he was due to participate.
The American’s ART Grand Prix team did not field a replacement at Imola, reducing the grid to 29 cars, but Correa has now been given approval to return in Barcelona.
“I’m arriving at this race with the wound in the second metatarsal, which occurred in Bahrain, still not fully healed and that may condition my performance,” he said.
“I’m going to use the brake master cylinder that requires less effort, which isn’t the best for performance, but we think it’s the best for getting through the weekend without foot problems.
“The season was cut short after this incident that prevented me from going to Imola, but we decided that we had to get back in the car and try to score points.
“I hope it goes well, but I am aware that this is going to be one more challenge in my career, since I was also unable to do the tests in Barcelona, and that will be a handicap.”
