Lirim Zendeli will make a return to the FIA Formula 3 Championship this weekend in Spain, competing for Charouz Racing System.
The German driver replaces compatriot David Schumacher at the team, with the latter racing at the Lausitzring DTM round this weekend.
Zendeli spent the 2019 and 2020 campaigns competing in the F3 series, taking one victory and two further podiums in that stretch.
Last year, he raced in Formula 2 with MP Motosport, however his campaign was cut short due to budget constraints.
“I’m really happy to be back and drive again,” said Zendeli. “We have to be realistic, I haven’t been in a car for 10 months and it will not be easy having only have 45 minutes of practice before quali, but I’ll do my best and try to help the team as much as possible.
“You can never leave out some surprises but let’s focus on the weekend and get the best possible result.
Team owner Antonin Charouz added: “I’m glad to welcome back Lirim to the team.
“It will be nice to race together once again and to have a talented driver like him in one of our cars. It’s going to be a very interesting weekend.”
Barcelona hosts the third round of the F3 season this weekend, with Alpine junior Victor Martins leading the standings ahead of the event.
