Chip Ganassi Racing has hired Kyffin Simpson to a development role within the team, and will be helping to hone his skills as he competes in Indy Lights for the remainder of the season.
Simpson is currently driving for TJ Speed Motorsports in the competitive feeder series after having dominated the Formula Regional Americas Championship in 2021.
The 17-year-old will have support from Ganassi in the form of driver mentorship, race strategy and engineering support as he competes as the series’ youngest driver.
“We are always interested in bringing in talented individuals who can contribute to the success of our team,” said Mike Hull, Managing Director at Chip Ganassi Racing.
“Kyffin has impressed us with his driving abilities, especially at such a young age, and we wanted to find a path toward bringing him into the Ganassi family.”
Simpson is a native of the Cayman Islands, and started his racing career when he was just nine years old.
Official driver development roles are not as common in IndyCar as they are in some other racing series, so having the support from one of the series’ top teams is a large boost to the young driver’s prospects.
Simpson will begin working with Ganassi this weekend when both IndyCar and Indy Lights are on track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

“This is a huge opportunity and I’m going to make the most of it. My ambition has always been to race with a championship winning IndyCar team, and I’m now taking a major step towards that goal.”
