Mick Schumacher has been transported to hospital as a precaution following his high-speed accident during Formula 1 qualifying in Saudi Arabia.
Schumacher lost control of his Haas VF-22 through Turn 11 in Q2 and suffered a violent impact with the wall on the exit of the corner.
He then suffered a secondary impact with the wall on the outside of the track.
The session was immediately halted and Schumacher was tended to by medical crews.
Schumacher was conscious and taken to the medical centre, where he was in touch with his mother by phone, and was then taken by helicopter to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital for further precautionary checks.
Initial check-ups at the medical centre revealed no injuries.
Schumacher’s Haas VF-22 suffered extensive damage in the impact and the rear of the car fell away from the rest of the chassis when it was being craned away.
That caused a spill of oil, adding to the delay, with Q2 suspended for almost an hour.
