Daniel Ricciardo has revealed a brand new helmet design for the 2022 Formula 1 season.
The Australian enters his second season with McLaren, having endured a difficult maiden campaign with the Woking-based squad last year.
Ricciardo has worn eye-catching helmets ever since his departure from Red Bull, prior to the start of 2019.
This year, the most prominent colour of the helmet is peach, however it also features streaks of blue and green, as well as his ‘three’ race number’.
“It’s another [Ornamental] Conifer design, and the colour of the year is peach,” Ricciardo said. “That’s what we’re doing.”
In the last number of years, Ricciardo has incorporated a choice of words or a slogan in the design, with the 2022 edition being no different.
“This year it is ‘Present’ and ‘Momentum’. It’s really just about being present in the moment,” he said.
“I think it’s so easy to get caught up in what lies ahead. You get excited or you’re constantly thinking ‘what’s next?’.
“It’s so important to be in the moment, in the now. Make those moments beautiful and it will give you momentum to move forward with purpose.”
Despite having a tough opening campaign to his McLaren career, Ricciardo’s highlight moment of 2021 came at the Italian Grand Prix, when he ended the team’s nine-year winless streak.
McLaren will unveil its 2022 car, named the MCL36, on Friday, February 11.
