The Circuit Spa-Francorchamps has showcased a number of photos as work modifications continue at the Belgian track.
The venue is being updated in order to meet double FIA/FIM official approval, which will allow motorbikes to return to the circuit.
Construction began at the track on November 15, 2020, with a number of corners being modified.
The famous Eau Rouge/Radillion section, which has seen a number of dangerous crashes in recent years, is being adjusted.
The foot of the uphill climb, which makes up Turn 2, is having its rails moved to allow for an enlargement of the run-off. The left part at Turn 3 will also have a larger tarmac run-off, as will the right-hand side of the track at Turn 4 at the top of the hill.
Further changes include a larger run-off at La Source, the first corner of the 7-kilometre circuit, where a gravel trap will be installed. The circuit also confirmed that the 24hr grandstand will be replaced by a new more modern facility.
Les Combes and Malmedy, Turns 6 and 7, will have a gravel trap for its run-off rather than tarmac.
Part of the tarmac run-off at Turn 8, named Bruxelles, will be removed and replaced by a gravel trap.
At Turn 16 and 17, the high-speed Blanchimont section, the circuit has outlined that the run-off platform at Turn 17 will be enlarged, with a gravel trap created and the railing moved. The tarmac run-off at Turn 16 will be transformed into a gravel trap.
Formula 1’s Belgian Grand Prix, the highlight event on the track’s schedule, is set to be the 14th round of the 2022 season, held on August 28.
