Ferrari will continue to throw its support behind Felipe Massa despite a string of errors which has seen him score just 12 points in the past four races compared to team-mate Fernando Alonso’s 51.
The Brazilian span out of the German Grand Prix at the weekend and admitted it was 100% driver error. He’s made at least one high-profile error during each of the past four race weekends, including crashes in Britain, Canada and Monaco.
Despite this, team principal Stefano Domenicali says they must continue to support the 32-year-old for the sake of the constructors’ championship.
“I’ve always said that I have a lot of confidence in him, but this is a very tough and very critical moment and for sure he is the first to be very disappointed with where we are,” said the Italian.
“But the only thing is to stay behind him and work close with him because we need him to make sure we are fighting for the constructors’. The others are very close but he will feel the team is close to him 100%.”
