Jamie Chadwick was crowned the 2021 W Series Champion by sealing victory in the final race of the season in Austin.
The Brit was able to dominate from pole position and with her title-rival Alice Powell crossing line in sixth place, victory was more than enough.
Going into the race, Chadwick was ten points clear of Powell, which meant a top-two finish would guarantee the Veloce driver the crown.
Chadwick blasted off the grid from pole position to retain her lead into Turn 1 in front of her compatriot Abbi Pulling, while Emma Kimilainen leapt up to third from sixth.
The top ten after the first ten minutes were Chadwick, who had a lead of two seconds over Pulling, Kimilainen third, Beitske Visser, Sarah Moore, Belen Garcia, Alice Powell, Sabre Cook, Jessica Hawkins and Nerea Marti.
Three minutes later, Moore was able to brake later than Visser into Turn 1 to dive to the inside to put the Scuderia W pilot up to fourth position.
Other than that particular swap in positions, the top ten remained the same with ten minutes remaining, as Chadwick was edging closer to the title.
After launching over the sausage kerbs at the start on the exit of the first turn, Fabienne Wohlwend’s race ended in the pits with handling problems.
Seven minutes to go, Cook and Hawkins came together at Turn 12 in the battle over eighth. Both spun round and continued but the pair fell out of the points.
Further ahead, Powell was to avoid that kind of drama by lunging down the inside of Garcia into Turn 1 to move up to sixth position.
That change would not deprive Chadwick of championship glory, as she completed her final lap to take her fourth win of the season and becoming a two-time W Series Champion.
Pulling came home in a well-deserved second to achieve her best result of the season, with Kimilainen completing the podium in the Eucrie W car.
Fourth position was Moore, ensuring she automatically qualifies for next year’s W Series by finishing in the top eight in the championship standings.
Visser’s fifth place was also enough to confirm that she cements her place on the grid for 2022.
Powell crossed over the line in sixth and ends 2021 runner-up to Chadwick in the title battle.
The top ten for the final race of the season were completed by Belen Garcia, Nerea Marti, Ayla Agren and Caitlin Wood.
The championship concludes with Chadwick wrapping the season up with a 27-point margin over her nearest rival Powell, with Kimilainen ending the year in a solid third position overall.
