The FIA will continue to use its current and new-for-2013 telemetry supplier, despite persistent problems which are yet to be fixed.
Riedel won the contract to supply the FIA with its telemetry link between race control and the cars. However since the opening race in Australia, the marshalling system which controls the cockpit warning lights and DRS override as well as GPS data, hasn’t been functioning correctly.
Improvements were made for the Bahrain Grand Prix, but some parts of the system remained offline.
Reports that the FIA might return to its former supplier, EM, for the European races, have been denied.
The governing body hopes the three-week break will give Riedel enough time to get to grips with its problems.
Should the FIA have taken the decision to revert to EM, it could have resulted in the teams having to make significant software and wiring changes to their cars.
