Despite a slow start to the season, Nico Hulkenberg is confident Sauber will eventually develop its car into a consistent points scorer and possibly a race winner.
The German joined the Swiss outfit at the start of the year, having left Force India, in what he believed to be a step forwards. However it hasn’t paid of yet, with Sauber currently having just six points, whilst Force India have an impressive 26.
Hulkenberg is confident they will turn things around in the hope they can match his ambitions of winning races and scoring regularly.
“I am looking for wins, but I didn’t come here to say we’re going to win every race, that wouldn’t be realistic,” he said.
“I would have said, this year, the main target is to improve the car and make it into a car that can be in the points every weekend.”
He believes the C32 has hidden pace which just needs to be unlocked.
“It’s a car with potential. It’s a top 10 car and we can develop it into a consistent points-scoring car, I’m sure about that,” he explained.
“It’s our job to get it out of it but we’re definitely not at the end in terms of development of the car.”
