Ferrari-linked Callum Ilott will make his NTT IndyCar Series debut with Juncos Hollinger Racing at the upcoming Grand Prix of Portland on September 12.
Ilott is currently a reserve driver for the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team and also competes in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with Iron Lynx.
The British driver has been a front-runner during his junior career, finishing third in GP3 in 2018, before placing runner-up to Mick Schumacher in Formula 2 last year.
The 22-year-old will be driving the No.77 entry and will get to turn his first laps in an IndyCar at a test on the Indianapolis Road Course on Thursday.
“I am pleased and excited to be announcing I will be racing with Juncos Hollinger Racing at Portland,” said Ilott.
“This will be my first time in the NTT IndyCar Series and running in the United States, which will be a bit of a change from running on the European side.
“I am looking forward to working with the team during this first phase of their development and am proud to be a part of this opportunity to build into their future.
“I would like to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy for allowing me to take this opportunity and for Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger for bringing me on board the team.”
JHR is committed to competing in the remaining three races of the 2021 IndyCar season as well as a full season in 2022, however, is yet to commit to a driver beyond the next round at Portland.
“We are very excited to welcome Callum to the Juncos Hollinger Racing family,” added Juncos. “Callum brings a lot of experience and incredible talent to the team.
“We are confident that he will transition well into the NTT IndyCar Series when we get on track for our final test before making our official debut together at Portland next week.”
