Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani have taken victory in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship race at Road America after Meyer Shank Racing had to pit for fuel in the closing minutes
Whelen Engineering led from pole position and held the lead for the majority of the race, until an off-sequence strategy allowed the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05 took the lead of the race.
Pla had started the car, but once Cameron took over, he maintained the lead and attempted to make it to the finish, but was ultimately forced to pit with mere minutes remaining on the clock.
As a result, the #31 Cadillac DPi-VR took their second win in a row, with the #55 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis and Harry Tincknell second.
Renger van der Zande and Kevin Magnussen completed the podium in the #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac DPi-VR, with Cameron ultimately coming home in fifth for Meyer Shank Racing.
Wayne Taylor Racing saw their hopes of an illusive first win at Road America dashed when Filipe Albuquerque made contact with Tincknell, leacing the #10 Acura ARX-05 with a puncture. Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor ultimately finished just off the podium in fourth place.
Era Motorsport break through in LMP2
Era Motorsport have taken their second victory of the year in LMP2, with Dwight Merriman and Ryan Dalziel taking the class win.
Dalziel took the #18 ORECA 07-Gibson into the lead in the second hour of the race, surpassing the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA of Mikkel Jensen and Ben Keating, which started the race from pole.
Jensen would ultimately also finish behind the #8 Tower Motorsports ORECA of John Farano and Gabriel Aubry, which finished in second place.
The class was completed by the #11 WIN Autosport ORECA 07-Gibson of Steven Thomas and Tristan Nunez.
Andretti stumbles in LMP3, CORE Autosport picks up the pieces
CORE Autosport has taken victory in LMP3, after Andretti Autosport fell away after pitting after a safety car.
The #36 Ligier JS P320 of Jarett Andretti and Oliver Askew led the class early on, but when a safety car was called when the debutants at Jr III Racing came to a halt after contact with Performance Tech Motorsports, the team opted not to bring Andretti in.
This proved costly as the rest of the LMP3 field did pit under yellow, which saw the team then plummet down the order.
Jon Bennett and Colin Braun were on hand to pick up the pieces and went on to take the win in the #54 Ligier JS P320.
Rasmus Lindh and Dan Goldburg finished second in the #38 Ligier, with the podium completed by the #74 Riley Motorsports Ligier of Felipe Fraga and Gar Robinson.
WeatherTech Racing pull off strategy upset
WeatherTech Racing pulled off a stunning upset to win in GTLM, beating out the pair of Corvettes.
The #79 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Cooper MacNeil and Matt Campbell started behind both Corvettes, but with an alternate strategy and a heavy amount of fuel saving in the final stint, the privateer squad was able to defeat the factory-run pair of GM cars.
Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor finished second in the #3 Corvette C8.R, with Nick Tandy and Tommy Milner coming home in third place.
Pfaff Motorsports find Wisconsin glory
After winning the race previously in 2019, Canadian outfit Pfaff Motorsports have once again captured a class win in GTD.
Aided by a drivethrough penalty for the polesitting #14 Lexus RC F GT3, Zacharie Robichon made his way to the lead in class in the #9 Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Robichon then handed over to Laurens Vanthoor, who held on to the lead and brought the car home.
Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley finished second in the #96 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 GT3, with the podium completed by the #16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Patrick Long and Trent Hindman.
Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis finished fourth in the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3, while Jack Hawksworth and Aaron Telitz fought their way back after their opening lap penalty to complete the top five.
