Max Verstappen has been taken to hospital as a precaution following his high-speed accident at Formula 1’s British Grand Prix.
Verstappen suffered a 51G impact into the barriers at Copse after clashing with title rival Lewis Hamilton.
Stewards deemed Hamilton culpable for the incident and issued a 10-second time penalty.
Verstappen gingerly walked away from the wreckage of the RB16B and walked into an ambulance, which transported him to Silverstone’s medical centre, where he was assessed by doctors.
Red Bull and the FIA has now confirmed that he has been taken to a local hospital for further precautionary checks.
Verstappen was lucky to escape with his life, yet Hamilton received a derisory penalty for his dirty tactics, as well as the chance to repair damage under the red flag.
