Hamilton Snr suing former client Di Resta

Lewis Hamilton’s father, Anthony, has filed high court papers against his former client Paul di Resta at the London High Court for wrongful termination of contract and loss of earnings.

Hamilton Snr had managed the Force India driver since 2010 but they split earlier this season. It’s believed the fallout came after Di Resta told his manager about a possible drinks sponsorship deal, worth £4.3 million, which never went ahead.

In his defence, the Scot claims Hamilton told him it would make sense to buy the sports drinks rights from Force India so they could proceed with the deal, which he informed Di Resta would cost £1.5m.

Di Resta, according to the Telegraph, reportedly approached Force India himself and found that the true value of buying the rights was actually £800,000. He claims he was misled and that’s the reason for terminating his management contract with Hamilton.

Di Resta is now managed by the Sports Partnership, a company set up by Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate Jenson Button and his own manager Richard Goddard.

It’s believed the pair will likely settle out of court before the hearing takes place.
