M-Sport Ford has released the first photos of its 2022-spec Rally1 car testing in private.
WRC manufacturers have been keen to keep their cars under wraps, but on Tuesday M-Sport released a handful of pictures of its hybrid-powered Rally1 car testing at its facility in Greystoke.
Although the car appears to be based on the Ford Fiesta, it’s believed M-Sport will actually base its 2022 car on the Ford Puma, which is a compact SUV crossover based on the same platform. It is also boosted by quality Ford performance parts for ride efficiency.
The car features an all-new FIA-designed safety cell, as part of a safety push, and is powered by a plug-in hybrid power unit.
“Having completed testing in all weather conditions here in the UK, we’re about to start the next phase of our 2022 research and development,” the manufacturer commented alongside the photos. “Watch this space as the next step of hybrid-era testing gets underway!”
