Carlin has announced that Conor Daly will be driving for the team this upcoming weekend for the double-header at Texas Motor Speedway.
The arrangement is a familiar one, and led to Daly scoring four top-ten finishes in the five rounds he contested with the team last year.
The deal does not appear to include the August race from World Wide Technology Raceway, leaving a hole yet to fill in the team’s plan for this year.
Max Chilton is serving as Carlin’s road course driver for the fourth consecutive year, but his deal does not include any oval races except for the Indy 500.
Daly’s familiarity with the team from pervious years will help him get up to speed quickly in the dual races coming up this weekend.
“Obviously, I’m very excited and thankful to be back with Carlin for this weekend’” said Daly in the announcement.
“It’s a package with which we’ve accomplished a lot together in a short amount of time and I’m excited to get back to work with the guys.
“I appreciate the opportunity and thank Chily [team owner Grahame Chilton] and Trevor [Carlin] for the support and entrusting me with the car once again and also Power Plus! for joining me this weekend.”
Daly has been in a similar arrangement with the British team for the past couple seasons, driving the oval races bar the Indy 500.
The arrangement works well due to his other team, Ed Carpenter Racing, placing its team owner Ed Carpenter in the driver’s seat for the #20 entry for the oval rounds.
Today’s news was expected on account of both driver and team having their schedules available, but nothing was confirmed in the lead-up to the season.
Daly will be on-track with Carlin starting this Saturday morning for practice from the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway, followed by the Genesys 300 Saturday night and the Xpel 375 on Sunday afternoon.
