W Series has confirmed it will relocate its pre-season testing from Spain to Wales due to the ongoing travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
W Series enjoyed a hugely successful debut season in 2019 in which Williams development driver Jamie Chadwick won the title, but its second season was cancelled as a result of the pandemic.
The all-female series returns for 2021 as support category for Formula 1, with a provisional eight-round schedule, starting in late-June at the French Grand Prix before ending in Mexico on October 30.
The series had planned to hold a four-day pre-season test 26-30 April at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. This will now be held 17-21 May at the Anglesey Circuit in Wales.
Although the series attracts drivers from all corners of the world, it is based out of the UK, meaning it is far easier for it to host a local test as international travel restrictions remain in place until mid-May at the earliest.
