Techeetah delays Extreme E entry due to COVID
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Extreme E’s debut season will feature just nine teams following the news that Techeetah has postponed its entry due to COVID-19.

The team, which is owned and operated by Indonesian company Indover, was set to line-up on the Extreme E grid for the debut race next month, but those plans have been put on hold due to the pandemic.

The team cited “global travel restrictions” as the reason for not taking part in pre-season testing in Europe, which meant its preparations were severely impacted.

Techeetah, which is separate to the Formula E team which bears the same name, hopes to compete later in the season.

“Team Techeetah remains committed to competing in Extreme E in a later race and will update on its future competitor status in the coming weeks,” a brief statement confirmed.

The all-electric off roading series is set to make its debut on April 3-4 in Saudi Arabia with its ‘desert’ race, which will be followed by ‘Ocean’ in Senegal, ‘Arctic’ in Greenland, ‘Amazon’ in Brazil and ‘Glacier’ in Argentina.
