Mahindra Racing’s Alex Lynn has been discharged from hospital following an accident in the closing stages of the second Diriyah EPrix.
The second Formula E race of the season was yellow flagged after four cars were involved in a collision at the Turn 18 chicane. The Safety Car was then sent out before the event was red flagged with three minutes plus a lap remaining and wasn’t restarted.
Lynn was involved in an accident which saw his car go airborne after it made contact with Mitch Evans’ Jaguar. Lynn’s car landed upside down and travelled a short distance before coming to a stop against the barrier.
Lynn was taken to hospital for precautionary checks due to the severity of the impact, but was discharged and will be fit to race in Rome in April.
“The most important thing is that Alex is OK after his accident,” commented team boss Dilbagh Gill. “It was a nasty accident, but it’s testament to the ongoing work that Formula E and the FIA do around safety that Alex only suffered some bumps and bruises and will be back racing with us in Rome.
“Regarding the race weekend, whilst we didn’t achieve the race results we’d hoped for, it is clear that the pace is there and we have made a big step forward from last year where race pace was a concern.”
Alexander Sims crossed the line in 11th, but was later given a drive through penalty for over-use of power, dropping him to 15th position.
