Goodyear will conduct a tire test at Circuit of the Americas on Tuesday, ahead of the May 21-23 NASCAR race weekend. Three former NASCAR Cup Series champions — reigning champion Chase Elliott, 2017 champion Martin Truex Jr. and 2012 champion Brad Keselowski — and their respective teams will participate.
The Cup Series will contest its first-ever race at the track on May 23, and both of NASCAR’s other two national series also will contest their inaugural races on the course the same weekend. Tuesday’s test will mark the first time multiple Cup Series cars will be on the track at the same time. NASCAR team co-owner and former driver Tony Stewart drove a Cup Series car in a demonstration on the course in 2019.
All three NASCAR series will use the same 3.41-mile COTA long course used by Formula One, as opposed to the 2.2-mile short course. The race at COTA will be the second of seven road-courses on the 2021 Cup Series schedule.
