Aston Martin has confirmed that BWT will remain a partner of the team in 2021, despite the Silverstone-based outfit’s transition to a new identity.
BWT became the title sponsor of the squad in 2017 when it ran under the Force India name, and stayed on board through the transformation of ownership in mid-2018 when Lawrence Stroll took over and re-branded the outfit to Racing Point.
Earlier this year, Aston Martin confirmed technology company Cognizant as its new title sponsor for the 2021 campaign.
Under the BWT title sponsor deal, Force India/Racing Point ran a distinct pink livery. Despite the Austrian water company remaining a partner for 2021, Aston Martin has assured that its livery will feature a new base colour, expected to be green.
With the fresh livery set to look “very different”, according to the team, it states that “subtle BWT brand accents as well as BWT brand logos will remain a feature”.
“Our friends at BWT have been loyal supporters of this team and I am delighted they have chosen to be a partner of Aston Martin F1 team,” said Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer.
“BWT will support our efforts to become more sustainable in all areas of the business, but especially in our trackside operations – a goal that marries up with Formula 1 own sustainability objectives.
“This is a strong and historic partnership entering an important new era, and we are all excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Aston Martin will unveil its 2021 car, the AMR21, on March 3.
For the start of the team’s latest era, it has retained Lance Stroll for a third season and brought in four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel following his six-season stint at Ferrari.
Shame there’ll no longer be a pink car, they were so easily distinguishable from any angle, at any distance. Hopefully the new Aston Martin livery will be equally bold, and the other teams’ efforts too.
