Three-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was revealed as a contender on Spain’s version of the Masked Singer, a celebrity talent show, in which he made the final round before being unmasked.
The show sees celebrities dressed in elaborate costumes perform songs, with a panel of judges trying to guess who they might be.
Lorenzo made it through to the final show following his renditions of J Balvin’s ‘Morado’ and ‘Walk of Life’ by Dire Straits, but was voted out in fourth place, forcing him to remove his mask and reveal his true identity, much to the surprise of the judges and crowd.
“Well yes, I was the RAVEN!” He wrote on social media. “What an experience to sing under the mask of the crow in Mask Singer…proud to have been able to reach the final.” He added it was “a unique and unforgettable experience”.
The Spaniard announced his retirement from racing in 2019 following a difficult final season with Honda, in which he suffered from injury and failed to score a top ten finish all season.
He had been due to hold a test rider role with Yamaha for 2020, but only rode a handful of days with the schedule heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The show was won by Spanish actress Paz Vega, who has starred in several big films including Rambo: Last Blood, All Roads Lead to Rome and Spanglish.
