A number of IMSA teams have carried out pre-season testing at Daytona International Speedway ahead of the 2021 season kick-off, notably including Action Express Racing and Meyer Shank Racing.
Teams took to the Florida circuit for two days of testing ahead of the Rolex 24 at Daytona next month, with a number of high-profile teams taking part.
Action Express Racing was at hand, with IMSA debutant Jimmie Johnson present turning laps behind the wheel of the #48 Cadillac DPi-VR.
The seven-time NASCAR Cup champion will share the white prototype with Simon Pagenaud, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Rockenfeller and got his first taste of Cadillac DPi machinery as he returned to the sportscar venue for the first time in a decade.
Meyer Shank Racing was also present to turn laps with its new Acura ARX-05 as the Ohio squad prepares to return to the top class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship for the first time since 2016.
MSR recently completed the line-up for its #60 Acura, adding Juan Pablo Montoya for the endurance rounds. Olivier Pla and Dane Cameron will be contesting the full season, while AJ Allmendinger will join the team for the Rolex 24 next month.
Pla, Cameron and Allmendinger were all at hand for the test, with the Acura prototype decked out in full carbon apart from the nose, which featured the team’s signature pink colour.
Alongside the two top prototype teams, Vasser Sullivan also returned to the track for the first time since parting ways with AIM Autosport, testing its Lexus RC F GT3.
