Scuderia Toro Rosso has strengthened its technical team with two key appointments on the design and aerodynamic front.
Luca Furbatto joins the design team in Faenza having worked at McLaren since 2000, where the 39 year old Italian’s most recent role was that of assistant project leader on the design of this year’s Formula 1 car, the MP4-26, and prior to that he was Head of stress analysis and materials.
Jon Tomlinson has joined the Bicester wind tunnel team, where he takes on the role of deputy head of aerodynamics, reporting to Nicolo Petrucci. The 38 year old Englishman joins Toro Rosso from the Williams team where he was head of aerodynamics since 2007. Prior to that he has worked at Jordan and Renault.
Both men have started in their new positions on Thursday in April 2012, Furbatto will take over as chief designer, reporting to technical director Giorgio Ascanelli, when Ben Butler returns to work for Red Bull Technology in Milton Keynes.
