Liberty Media has made a minority equity investment, attributed to the Formula One Group, in Meyer Shank Racing, which competes in the IndyCar Series and IMSA Series.
Meyer Shank Racing claimed the 2019 IMSA team and drivers’ championship and from 2021 will step up to the Dpi class after linking with Acura.
The squad made its IndyCar debut in 2017 and this year entered a full-time car for the first time for Jack Harvey.
Liberty Media has owned and run Formula 1 since early 2017.
“We have worked to build our IMSA and IndyCar racing programs step by step and this is another big progression for our organisation to have Liberty Media make an equity investment in MSR,” said team co-owner Mike Shank.
“Everything that we do is built on the partnerships that we’ve developed, and this programme is no different.
“The investment by Liberty Media will enable us to continue to build and develop our programmes.”
MSR co-owner Jim Meyer is the CEO of SiriusXM, the radio network which is majority owned by Liberty Media.
Liberty Media knows where the best investment is and where it isn’t.
