Porsche has unveiled a pair of special one-off liveries for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, paying tribute to the marque’s maiden Le Mans win in 1970.
The pair of Porsche 911 RSR-19s will sport a colour scheme that references the 50th anniversary of Porsche’s famous first win, which was achieved when Hans Hermann and Richard Atwood took the Porsche 917K to victory fifty years ago.
The livery used on Porsche’s two Le Mans challengers was first seen in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, where the German squad took a class win.
“I’m very excited to see our Porsche 911 RSR decked out in the special Le Mans livery in real life,” factory driver Gianmaria Bruni said about the livery. “I’ve only seen the artwork and it looks fabulous.
Turning up at the track with our stylish and fast cars on the anniversary of Porsche’s first overall victory at Le Mans is both a motivation and an obligation for us.
“We’re aiming for class victory. In the past two years, we finished in second place with our number 91 car.
If we can make it over the distance without incidents, then nothing should stand in the way of a great success.”
