Sergio Perez has reiterated that he will remain at Racing Point in 2021 and says he is not in any discussions with rival Formula 1 teams.
Despite Perez signing a multi-year contract with Racing Point last year, Sebastian Vettel has been linked with a move to the Silverstone-based squad when he leaves Ferrari at the end of the 2020 season.
Perez has driven for Racing Point since 2014, when it competed as Force India, and ahead of this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix stressed that he expects to remain on board into 2021.
“I think it’s, as I’ve said before, a matter of time,” he said. “What I’ve said in Spain that I felt really, really happy in the team, I really believe in the project.
“I’ve been here for a while. And I’ve seen how the team is going upwards. We all feel internally that everything is working well.
“So we don’t see the reason why we should change anything. I don’t see any reason to change.
“We’re enjoying a great season on track and things are working really well in the team. I don’t expect any change.”
Perez admits that there are “discussions in the background” with Racing Point, but says he is not focused on them too much as the matter is out of his hands.
“All the feedback that I get it’s really positive. So I stay with that. That’s where my confidence comes from and as I said before, it’s out of my hands so I don’t even bother at all.
“I focus on racing, enjoy it and then whatever happens it’s out of my hands. I don’t even pay attention to it.”
