Sebastian Buemi says he isn’t worried about his short-term future at Toro Rosso, despite upcoming rookie, Daniel Ricciardo, poised to replace him or teammate Jaime Alguersuari at the end of the year.
The Swiss driver insists he has a contract with Italian outfits sister-team, Red Bull, until 2013, therefore it isn’t him, but Alguersuari who is under threat.
“I have a contract with Red Bull until 2013,” he told AS. “So it’s not my choice to make contact with other teams,” he said, referring to possible discussions he may be having with other teams if he is forced to leave Toro Rosso.
On the subject of his younger teammate who’s just two points behind in the championship, Buemi says he has been hard pushed to beat the Spaniard, but he was happy with his performances this year.
“I always struggle to finish ahead of him [Alguersuari], both in qualifying and the race,” he said, adding: “In 11 races I’ve finished ahead in seven. That is very positive.”
