Robin Frijns has taken his third pole position of the 2020 DTM season by beating Nico Müller and Rene Rast in a late flurry of fastest laps.
Rene Rast initially set the quickest time with a 01:15:911, before Müller took just over half a tenth out of his best time topping the timesheets with a 01:15:852.
Müller’s flyer seemed good enough for his first pole of 2020 before Frijns put in a late 01:15:787 to take pole position, his third in fourth races.
Ferdinand Habsburg took his Audi RS5 DTM to a career-best qualifying position in fourth with a 01:16:124, ahead of Loic Duval and Mike Rockenfeller.
Marco Wittmann was the best BMW runner in seventh place, ahead of Harrison Newey, who put down his best qualifying performance since joining the championship, posting a 01:16:361 to go eighth fastest.
Jamie Green was ninth fastest, while Saturday podium finisher Sheldon van der Linde completed the top ten.
Philipp Eng took eleventh, 0.065s ahead of Timo Glock in twelfth place. Glock managed to outqualify rookie Fabio Scherer by 0.037s.
The grid was completed by Jonathan Aberdein, Lucas Auer and Robert Kubica.
