Haas’ Romain Grosjean and McLaren’s Carlos Sainz have taken on fresh engines for the remainder of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
Grosjean finished fifth in Friday’s second practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya but Haas was forced to break the curfew overnight after detecting an anomaly.
His Haas VF-20 has now been equipped with a new Internal Combustion Engine, Turbocharger, MGU-H and Control Electronics.
Sainz, meanwhile, has also taken on a fresh ICE, along with a new Turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K.
Sainz’s MCL35 has struggled with a cooling issue since the second Silverstone event and the Spaniard confirmed after Friday’s running that a change of chassis had not alleviated the problem.
As the components are within their respective allocations for the 2020 campaign they will not face a grid penalty.
AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat also took a new engine prior to the weekend in order for Honda to have more components available in his pool.
