Brendon Hartley has left GEOX Dragon with immediate effect ahead of Formula E’s season finale after contesting only five races with the American outfit.
The Kiwi joined the team for the start of Season 6 as part of an all-new driver lineup, partnering Audi DTM racer Nico Muller at the squad for the 2019/20 campaign.
Making his debut at the double-header Diriyah E-Prix last November, the 30-year-old has scored GEOX Dragon’s only points of the season thus far, recording ninth-place in the second leg of the season-opener after getting vaulted from 14th to the top 10 as a result of a handful of post-race penalties.
The departure of Hartley showcases the constantly revolving door of the GEOX Dragon team which has fielded five different drivers in the past 18 races.
Reserve drivers Sergio Sette Camara and Joel Eriksson are key candidates to fill Hartley’s vacant seat for Formula E’s six-race Berlin showdown this August after both drivers represented the team in March’s Marrakesh Rookie Test.
Sette Camara placed second overall behind recent Envision Virgin Racing signee Nick Cassidy while Eriksson took 18th on the timesheets.
