GP2 Series champion Davide Valsecchi will participate in this weekend’s virtual Formula 2 event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Formula 2 officials have organised a series of virtual events to replace postponed and cancelled rounds, using the Formula 2 car that is available on the official 2019 Formula 1 game.
Prema’s Arthur Leclerc, younger brother of Ferrari F1 racer and 2017 Formula 2 champion Charles, claimed both victories at the opening event last weekend, held on the Bahrain circuit.
Valsecchi claimed the 2012 GP2 title before turning his hand to commentating, becoming a popular broadcaster in both Formula 1 and Formula 2.
Also on the entry list for the first time will be Sebastian Montoya, son of ex-F1 racer Juan Pablo, who will join Leclerc at Prema.
Sophia Floersch will also make her virtual Formula 2 debut, for Campos, alongside Williams young driver and race winner Jack Aitken.
Occasional Toro Rosso Formula 1 tester and Formula 2 veteran Sean Gelael will link up with 2020 team DAMS, next to Formula E racer Oliver Rowland.
Renault test driver Guan Yu Zhou, who won the opening Formula 1 virtual race, will unite with 2020 team-mate Callum Ilott at UNI-Virtuosi.
Artem Markelov will be another debutant as he joins BWT HWA Racelab.
