The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, set for July 9-12, has been postponed, it was announced on Thursday.
The outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has caused most sporting events planned for the coming months to be postponed or cancelled.
On Thursday organisers at Goodwood made the decision to call of the event for its planned date.
“Following advice received from the UK Government, we have decided to postpone the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard to later this year,” read a statement.
“We want to be sure of choosing the best possible date, this will require some careful consideration and as soon as we have that we will let you know.
“Mostly likely it will happen in late summer [or] early autumn and your tickets and hospitality bookings remain valid for the new date.”
Motorsport calendars have been heavily disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The MotoGP season will not get underway until at least mid-May while Formula 1’s opening round provisionally remains mid-June’s Canadian Grand Prix.
