Qualifying for the third race of the 2019/20 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY has been cancelled amidst ongoing repairs to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship’s opening practice session of the day closed under red flag conditions, with a crash in Turn 9 for Audi’s Daniel Abt leading to a shortened session, lasting only 33-minutes compared to the scheduled 45.
With repairs to barriers ongoing, qualifying for the I-PACE eTROPHY was cancelled entirely, with lap times from Friday’s practice session therefore being used to form the grid for the race later today.
This places defending champion Sergio Jimenez on pole position with Diriyah Race 1 winner Simon Evans starting alongside his title rival on the front row.
Championship returnee Caca Bueno will line up in third place in the second Jaguar Brazil Racing entry while Alice Powell will start in fourth.
Pro-Am driver Fahad Algosaibi comples the top five while Manuel Cabrera and Mario Dominguez follow, occupying the sixth and seventh spots.
Mashhur Bal Hejaila will start from eighth, with Adalberto Baptista, David Cheng and debutant Takuma Aoki completing the field.
Following his accident in FP1, Abt was taken to hospital for further examination as an additional measure of precaution.
