Alfa Romeo’s C39 makes track debut in test livery

Alfa Romeo’s 2020 car, the C39, made its track debut on Friday morning at Ferrari’s private Fiorano Track ahead of its official launch next week.

The new car, like in 2019, sported a test livery rather than the final livery the team will run during the 2020 season – which is expected to be largely red and white in keeping with Alfa Romeo’s branding.

The test livery appears to be a ‘snakeskin’ wrap, reflecting the snake in the Alfa Romeo logo, which has been tweaked to look like a heart, with the shakedown taking place on February 14, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day.

Alfa Romeo-Sauber will officially unveil its final car and livery on February 19, on the morning of the first official day of pre-season Formula 1 testing.

Kimi Raikkonen got behind the wheel to complete the run, which is classed as a ‘filming day’, though most teams utilise the track time to give their cars a first run to hopefully discover any small issues before testing kicks off.

The first pre-season test starts on Wednesday and runs for three days, before a final three-day test the following week.
