Arrow McLaren SP unveiled the livery for its entry into the 2020 NTT IndyCar season today in a polished event that was livestreamed online.
The Chevrolet-powered car will have a dramatic livery with a predominantly black and papaya orange design complete with blue highlights on the wing endplates.
Launch events aren’t traditionally as big of a spectacle as the ones in Formula 1, but McLaren made sure to have a proper unveiling including having NBC Sports’ longtime IndyCar announcer Leigh Diffey performing hosting duties.
The team will field young drivers Patricio O’Ward and Oliver Askew, both racing in their first full IndyCar season after graduating from the Indy Lights feeder series.
O’Ward was confident in the team, saying “Sky’s the limit. We’re definitely gonna be pushing for the best. If you’re pushing for anything less you’re in the wrong business.”
“We’re very excited about the year coming up with our two so-called young guns,” said Co-owner of Arrow McLaren SP Ric Peterson. “It’ll be very exciting – we all know that – but we’re also very confident in their abilities. They know how to win.”
McLaren Racing joined with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to form Arrow McLaren SP this season and has put considerable weight behind its new IndyCar program already.
Multiple high-profile partnerships have been announced in the offseason and Zak Brown has taken time from his Formula 1 duties to help get the team prepared for this season.
The new car will be one of many on track next week for two days of preseason testing at Circuit of the Americas. Testing will be streamed live February 11-12 on Indycar.com and on the IndyCar app.
