Rick Ware Racing will not be taking part in this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, bringing the overall number of cars in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship season opener down to 38.
The team was supposed to field the #2 Riley Mk.30-Gibson in the LMP2 class, but has now pulled out after the car suffered damage at the Roar Before the 24 test following a accident at the hands of James Davison.
Davidson and Mark Kvamme, who drove the car at the Roar, had since been dropped from the line-up, leaving only Cody Ware and BRDC Young Driver Award Johnathan Hoggard winner confirmed.
The team is involved in LMP2 racing elsewhere and will now shift focus towards its two-car Asian Le Mans Series campaign and is also rumoured to be working on plans for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship post-Daytona.
Kvamme and Hoggard have meanwhile found a seat elsewhere, as the pair have been drafted into the line-up for the #47 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo alongside Brandon Gdovic and Eric Lux. The GTD team was the only team still to have a full driver line-up confirmed.
