Oliver Rowland set the pace in the second and final practice session of the weekend ahead of qualifying for the Santiago E-Prix.

The Nissan e.dams driver set a best lap time of a 1m 04.799s as temperatures increased by seven degrees for FP2.

The 30-minute session – which was red-flagged on two occasions – saw the Briton edge ahead of ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Felipe Massa for the fastest time, the Brazilian 0.131s short of the benchmark as one of only a handful of drivers to complete a 250kW lap.

The first red flag of the afternoon was caused by GEOX Dragon’s Brendon Hartley, the Kiwi depositing cooling equipment on an installation lap following an unsafe release from the pit lane while a crash for NIO 333’s Ma Qinghua resulted in the premature conclusion of FP2.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans briefly held the fastest time but ultimately trailed Massa by 0.116s to secure the third-fastest lap at the close of the session.

Maximilian Gunther meanwhile was fourth, emerging as the fastest BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver with team-mate and present championship leader Alexander Sims emerging in 17th.

Posting a 1m 05.257s lap, Andre Lotterer completed the top five for Porsche as Antonio Felix da Costa – who made contact with Rowland late on – was sixth for DS Techeetah.

Edoardo Mortara secured the seventh-quickest time in the second Venturi while an impressive run for Oliver Turvey placed the NIO 333 racer in eighth.

Daniel Abt emerged as the fastest Audi driver in ninth as Hartley completed the top 10.

After failing to match the pace of Stoffel Vandoorne in FP1, Formula E rookie Nyck de Vries edged ahead of his team-mate in second practice with the 11th fastest-lap placing him as the quickest Mercedes EQ driver.

Reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne only managed 15th in the second DS Techeetah, 1.484s off the pace without completing a 250kW run.
