IMSA has disqualified all but one of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evos from Roar Before the 24 qualifying due to a technical infraction.
The #11 GRT Grasser Racing, #19 GEAR Racing, #44 GRT Magnus and #47 Precision Performance Motorsports entries have all had their qualifying times deleted after they were found not to be running IMSA’s Daytona-specific gearing. The only Lamborghini that wasn’t disqualified was the #48 Paul Miller Racing car.
Qualifying at the Roar Before the 24 does not affect starting positions for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, but is instead held to determine pitboxes and garage allocations.
Therefore these disqualifications have no implications on the championship or the season-opening round of the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.
The #38 Performance Tech Motorsports ORECA 07-Gibson has also been disqualified from LMP2 qualifying for not using the mandatory bronze driver for the session. LMP2 teams are required to run a bronze-rated driver during qualifying session, but the team used the silver-rated Kyle Masson during yesterday’s session instead.
