Frederik Vesti will step up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema Racing, the Italian team has announced.
Vesti, 17, claimed last year’s title in the rebranded Formula Regional European Championship, racing for Prema, and made an early step into Formula 3 machinery by participating at Macau.
Vesti joins Logan Sargeant at the team which claimed 1-2-3 in last year’s standings with Robert Shwartzman, Marcus Armstrong and Jehan Daruvala.
“I am incredibly grateful to Prema for giving me this chance,” said Vesti.
“As drivers we are all dreaming of signing with Prema. Few of us get the chance. I’m perfectly aware of that.
“Every single step I took this year in the Formula Regional European Championship had one specific goal – to be preparing for Prema also in 2020.
“I love the team and the team environment and the effort that is put into every single little detail.
“I feel so welcomed and so ready to pay back the team in 2020 for making my Formula Regional Championship happen.
“Thank you to my personal team for taking me to where I’m now, for finding all the necessary funds and for developing me as a person.”
