Job van Uitert was disappointed with G-Drive Racing's fourth place in LMP2 at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, saying the team came to Bahrain to win but was never in the right place.
Van Uitert shared the #26 Aurus 01-Gibson with team regular Roman Rusinov and double Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne in his final outing for the Russian squad, finishing fourth behind United Autosports, JOTA Sport and Jackie Chan DC Racing.
When asked by Motorsport Week if he was happy with the result, the Dutchman replied.
"No, we were here to win. Very disappointing to finish fourth. The pace was not good, we were not there, so in that perspective we didn't deserve to win despite the effort that we tried.
Plus, we switched to the Michelin tyre now, it's just different. We need to learn more as G-Drive Racing, so we were just never in the right place."
Van Uitert will not be returning to G-Drive Racing for 2020, as he's been upgraded from silver to gold rating. Van Uitert joined G-Drive this year after graduating from LMP3 as ELMS champion in 2018. It's now been confirmed that he will join United Autosports for the 2020 European Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
"I'm truly excited to join United Autosports for 2020," Van Uitert commented. "I have raced against the team in both my seasons in the ELMS as well as at Le Mans and I know how good they are. We've been talking with each other, trying to get the stars alligned for a few years and to be finally joining the team next year is fantastic and I want to thank Zak Brown and Richard Dean for the opportunity.
Line-up wise we will be very competitive and it is great to have Alex Brundle and Will Owen as teammates. I'm sure we will have a great season together with many fun moments and hopefully a lot of champagne."
