Formula 1 has confirmed that it has reduced its pre-season testing schedule from eight to six days for the 2020 season, while in-season running has been scrapped.
In recent years Formula 1 has carried out two four-day tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, in order for teams to gather experience with their new cars, but for 2020 a day has been removed from each session.
Next year’s pre-season programme will run from 19 to 21 February, and from 26 to 28 February, with Barcelona again the chosen venue.
It has also been confirmed that, with a record-breaking 22-race schedule already confirmed for 2020, there will be no in-season testing next season.
For the last few years official testing has taken place on Tuesday and Wednesday after two grands prix per year, with Bahrain and Spain hosting the running in 2019.
The season-opening Australian Grand Prix is scheduled for March 13-15.
Vietnam will join the calendar for the first time, with the Netherlands returning after a 35-year absence, while Germany has been dropped.
