Three drivers have been summoned to the stewards over the incidents that arose during the final stages of qualifying for Formula 1’s Italian Grand Prix.
Seven of the nine remaining Q3 participants – following Kimi Raikkonen’s accident – were unable to set a second timed effort due to running out of time.
It came after a traffic jam arose at several points of the circuit while drivers attempted to back off to find a slipstream.
The FIA has confirmed that Nico Hulkenberg, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lance Stroll are under investigation for allegedly driving unnecessarily slowly.
Hulkenberg was also asked to explain why he went wide at the first chicane on his out-lap, but stewards cleared him of any wrongdoing.
It is understood that no other drivers have or will be placed under investigation for Q3, but Sebastian Vettel is under investigation for allegedly leaving the track and gaining an advantage in Q2.
Charles Leclerc went on to secure pole position, ahead of Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, with Vettel fourth.
